It bothers me when people say "life isn't a fairy tale sweetheart".
Because they think reality is so vastly different that the possibility of pixie dust and witches in the woods is for too much to comprehend.
I'll admit, not everything in fairy tales is true, ships can't fly, and neither can children for that matter.
But fairy tales have a certain truth to them, a truth that is relative to everyday life.
There is good in all of us. There is bad in all of us.
Even the ones with the most tender of hearts can quickly become caught up in the wrong crowd.
And even the ones that are filled with hatred and malice can have their hearts softened by love.
Sometimes no matter how many bread crumbs you leave behind, you weren't meant to find your way back home. You were called to get lost in the woods to become confused and afraid, all the more to trust in who you were created to be, and to defeat the darkness in your life.
To prove that this dragon could be conquered.
That frog that you kissed, yeah, the one you thought turned into a prince, he actually didn't change all that much.
And no matter how hard you try not to, you look in the mirror and you only see rags, not riches.
But darling do not fret.
For although the scariest parts of fairytales can happen to you,
remember that the good parts can happen too.
There is such a thing as fairy godmothers who take you under their wings and nurse you back to health. There is wonder, and hope, and faith, and love. Have the courage to leave everything you know to be true for a hunch because sometimes those adventures show you more about who you are than you ever could have imagined. Climb the beanstalk for the better life. Have courage and be kind.
Remember your roots, and how you began your journey.
For when you look back as the ending draws near,
you'll realize the way you started is important,
but not nearly as important as where you found yourself through the middle.
